Here’s a clear, accurate explanation of perfume maturity—what it means, why it matters, and how alcohol interacts with the fragrance during the resting period. Definition: Perfume Maturity: Maturity of a perfume refers to the period of time a freshly mixed fragrance must rest so that its ingredients fully blend, stabilize, and harmonize. This process is often called maturation. After a perfume concentrate (the blend of essential oils, aroma molecules, and accords) is mixed with alcohol and sometimes water, it must sit undisturbed for days to weeks.
